Why Multi-Age Classrooms?

Mixed-Age Environments:

A Preparation for Life

Mixed-age groups are a fundamental part of Montessori Education. How many of us as adults spend time with only people our specific age? Providing children with an environment of mixed-age peers promotes diversity of skills, interests, abilities, and academic interests while preparing them for living with people of all ages.

The younger children develop confidence with new skills through observing the more challenging activities of their elder peers, while the older children gain self-confidence by serving as role models and leaders, developing their empathy, care, and social responsibility.

This allows them to learn from and share with each other, freeing them from dependence on adults.
