Our school offers a unique place to grow and deepen your Montessori Practice. Guides and Assistants have stayed at our school for sometimes decades, finding Rock Creek to be a lovely, calm, and gracious place to work.

Our Current Openings

We periodically hire for classroom assistant and guide positions. We are also seeking Adult Education Instructors who are interested in leading workshops, multi-week courses, and offering consultation to the Rock Creek parent community and to the public.

  • The Primary Montessori Assistant’s role is to support the children ages 2.5-6 as they work each day and to help ensure smooth transitions during the schedule.

    The Montessori Assistant works under the direct guidance of the Montessori Guide (Teacher) to support the classroom in a way that aligns with Montessori Principles.

    This role does not typically include direct instruction, but the Teacher will be happy to train the Assistant to give some lessons as desired/needed.

    Duties include:

    • Reinforcing classroom expectations of behavior using kind manners, respect, non-authoritarian means (training in this can be provided)

    • Helping children select activities to work on.

    • Preparation of snack

    • Light cleaning and dish sanitation

    • Replenishing supplies like paper/pencils/paint/etc.

    • Speaking Spanish to the children most if not all the time.

    • Supporting children in their toileting work, including helping them sit on the toilet, changing diapers, monitoring children for any accidents.

    • Simple material making such as cutting, glueing, laminating, etc.

    • Any other reasonable tasks requested by the guide.

    • Supervising outdoor play and ensuring active supervision of children at all times.

    Requirements of the Role:

    • Basic Health and Safety Training (can be completed during on-boarding).

    • Experience working with children.

    • Native fluency in Spanish

    • Confidence in Spoken English is desired but not required.

    Hours:

    8:15 AM - 4:15 PM

    Compensation:

    $23 per hour

    This role also has the opportunity to extend full time into the summer months if desired!

  • We are seeking experienced Montessorians who are passionate about working with adults to serve as Adult Education Instructors.

    AEI’s work to produce stand-alone workshops, multi-session courses, and provide one-on-one consultation for individuals that integrate Montessori principles in a interdisciplinary approach.

    Potential topics of instruction could include but are not limited to:

    • Adult Self-Growth and Development

    • Parenting Skills

    • Work-place Development and Culture

    • Art and Personal Enrichment

    • Spirituality and Wellness
