Teaching Staff

Alice Casco Wallner, Montessori teacher, holds the Early Childhood Education diploma from Asuncion, Paraguay, and the Primary Montessori diploma and M.Ed. from Loyola College in Maryland. Alice has worked as a volunteer in a Public Montessori School in Columbia SC, and has worked with children since a young age. Alice is a native from Paraguay; she lived in different countries and speaks Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and English. She is married and has 2 children.

Fumiyo Hashida-Livermore, Primary teacher, has an associate degree from Japan in physical education and a Primary/Assistance to Infancy AMI Montessori diploma. She came to this country to study dance. For four years, she worked at a DC charter school for the arts as an instructional assistant. She has previous experience working as an assistant at Rock Creek Montessori School and was the Toddler Teacher for the past four years.

Debra Mallory, the toddler teacher, is a recent graduate of the Infant and Toddler Program at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies in Silver Spring. As a new mother, Debra decided to make a career change from government administrative work to teaching after learning about Montessori's philosophy during a visit to a school. Last year, she worked at another local Montessori school gaining practical experience in the classroom. Debra grew up in Maryland, received her BA in government and politics from the University of Maryland at College Park, and currently resides in Silver Spring with her husband, 3-year-old son, and a cat.

Mary Evans is our day care teacher in charge of our after school program. She also assists with recess, lunch and naptime. Mary took two years of child development classes in high school. She previously worked at Build a Bear and before that assisted her mother in her family day care. Her other profession is as a costumer for local theatre companies. She is married and grew up in the area.

Milagros Laurente assists Miss Debra in the toddler class. Milagros was one of the first parents of a child at Rock Creek Montessori School our opening year. She then joined our staff the following year. After several years of supporting the school she took some time off to go to school herself. We are very happy to have her back. Her native country is Peru.
